Bringing Garden Secateurs Back to Life with WD-40

I cleaned, degreased, and lubricated my old garden secateurs using WD-40. After loosening seized parts, removing light rust, and oiling the moving hinges, they now open and close smoothly. A simple repair that saves money, reduces waste, and keeps my garden tools ready for years to come.

Step 1: Assess the tools

Look over the secateurs for rust spots, stiff hinges, and seized parts.

Step 2: Clean off dirt & grime

Use WD-40 Specialist Degreaser and a soft cloth to remove grime

Step 3: Lubricate & Free Up Hinges

Spray WD-40 Multi-Use Product or WD-40 Easy Reach into the pivot points and joints.
Next: scrub Gently – Use superfine steel wool or a brush to remove remaining rust or sticky residue.

Step 4: Wipe down and ready for action!

Wipe off excess product and admire the smooth operation and restored finish.
Now they're ready for action! Secateurs now glide easily, making gardening safer, easier, and more enjoyable.
