Rescued by WD-40 bike transformation
This old bike was far from rideable — rusted chain, stiff moving parts, worn components and in need of a full refresh. Instead of replacing it, I took on the challenge to repair and restore it using WD-40 products.
Step 1: Clean the bike and repair the chain
I used WD-40 Multi-Use Product to loosen rust, remove grime and get the chain and moving parts working smoothly again. A degreaser helped break down built-up dirt, followed by re-lubrication to bring everything back to life. Even small details like sticky residue and seized components were brought back with the right application.
Step 2: Paint undercoat, colour coat and clear coat
From there, I restored the frame with a full sand, undercoat, colour and clear coat process, transforming it into something completely new. I also repaired the tyre to make the bike fully functional again — proving that with the right tools and products, you don’t need to replace, you can restore.
Step 3: Final touches - rescued by WD-40
This project shows how WD-40 can take something neglected and turn it into something reliable, functional and ready to ride again.
