Restoring a Vintage Italian Coffee Grinder with WD-40
This vintage Italian coffee grinder had built-up grime, rust, and stiff moving parts from years of use. Instead of replacing it, I wanted to restore and preserve it using WD-40.
I cleaned the exterior and removed grime, then used WD-40 to help loosen stiff hinges and treat rusted areas. After a light scrub and wipe down, the grinder was cleaner, smoother, and ready to use again.
A simple restoration that keeps a beautiful vintage item functional while reducing waste.
Step 1: Assess the Grinder
The grinder had visible grime, light rust, and stiff hinges that made it difficult to use.
Step 2: Clean the Surface
I used WD40 degreaser to address the exterior to remove surface dirt and expose the areas that needed attention.
Step 3: Apply WD-40 multi purpose spray
I applied WD-40 to the hinges and rust spots to loosen movement and begin breaking down the rust.
Step 4: Scrub, wipe down and enjoy!
After scrubbing rust spots and wiping hinges, the coffee grinder is back to working condition and can be used for many more years to come thanks to WD40!
